Miss Bev’s long friendship with Bay Cliff began in 1989 when she was employed as a Linen Room Assistant. She continued to work in the Linen Room for a total of thirteen summers - continuously from 1989-2000 and then again in 2002. Brian Lee Process, 39, of 1224 Logan Street, Marquette, died unexpectedly Sunday, June 29, 2003 at Marquette General Hospital. Clyde Stevens

Mr. Clyde worked at Bay Cliff from 1944 to 1952. He was a counselor, but he was most known for being the Archery Instructor, a role he served for most of his summers at camp. “He rigged special bows so campers with limited arm control could shoot. Some used their feet. Elba Morse Miss Elba was co-founder, along with Dr. Goldie Corneliuson, of Bay Cliff Health Camp in 1933. At that time, she was a field nurse for the Upper Peninsula Children’s Fund and Superintendent of the Northern Michigan Children’s Clinic. Iva (Suggitt) Curtis

Miss Iva (also known as Miss Ivy) worked in the 1940s & ‘50s at Bay Cliff. Her positions included Instructor, Unit Leader, Remedial Reading, Assistant to the Director, and Consultant. Even though Miss Iva’s last year of employment at camp was 1959, she continued to serve Bay Cliff as a county committee member (Chippewa) and helped with fundraising until her death in 2002. Miss Josie’s long association of more than 20 years with Bay Cliff spanned three decades. In the summer of 1970, Josie joined the Linen Room staff headed by Miss Eleanor Doering as a seamstress. Miss Joy’s dedication to Bay Cliff spanned 30 years. She started her association with camp through her involvement in Camp Independence since its beginning in 1985 as Waterfront/Pool Supervisor and as one of the nurses. Louise Stoekly

Miss Louise was a long-time friend of co-founder & camp director Elba Morse. She regularly volunteered many summers to help open and close camp. She worked at Bay Cliff from 1952 to 1963 as Assistant to the Director for Miss Elba and later Mr. Johnny Bullock. The 1959 Bay Cliff Yearbook was dedicated to Miss Louise Stoekly. Louise was a teacher in Iron River, MI.

Margaret (Young) Garvin

Miss Margaret began her long career at Bay Cliff in 1952 and worked as the camp Physical Therapist nearly continuously every year thereafter through 1974. The physical therapy building at that time was known as Rub-A-Dub-Dub. The 1961 Bay Cliff Yearbook was dedicated to Mrs. Margaret Garvin. When the Therapy Center was built in 1986, the Physical Therapy Department was dedicated in her honor.

Maxine (Gertz) Achtner

Maxine (Gertz) Achtner Miss Maxine served for six years as the summer secretary in the 1960s to Director John “Bud” Vargo. She began her employment as secretary in the summer of 1965 and worked each summer after that through 1970, in which year she also worked as a lifeguard. Maxine was employed as Mr. Bud’s part-time secretary year-round from the spring of ’65 to the spring of ’67. She also continued to work during the post-camp season in ’67, ’68 & ‘69. Melody Oakley (Cermak)

Melody Oakley (Cermak) Miss Melody worked for six summers at Bay Cliff. She began in 1978 as a counselor in Unit III. She returned in 1980 to be the Recreation Instructor. Bay Cliff was privileged to have Melody for the next four years (1981-84) in her professional capacity as Physical Therapist. Afterwards, Melody provided key suggestions for the design plan of the PT/OT Therapy Building constructed in 1986. Melody’s husband, Greg, also worked at camp in 1983.
