Willis was born March 3, 1934 in Negaunee to Willis and Elizabeth (Moyle) Garceau, graduated from Negaunee St. Paul High School, Class of 1952, and was a lifelong Negaunee resident. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954-56 and in the Michigan National Guard from 1956-86. Mr. Garceau worked for Cleveland Cliffs as a maintenance mechanic supervisor at the Brownstone Shops, retiring in 1992 with 29 years of employment.
Willis was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Negaunee, the Negaunee Elks and the Michigan National Guard Association. He and his wife enjoyed spending winters in Florida, camping and traveling in their motor home, and watching their grandchildren play sports.
Surviving are his wife, Carol J. (Chapman) Garceau, 4 sons: Timothy (Joyce) Garceau of Porterfield, WI, Gregory (Virginia) Garceau of Royal Palm Beach, FL, Gary (Lori) Garceau of Burnsville, MN, and Thomas (Brenda) Garceau of Green Bay, WI, 11 grandchildren: Timmy, Taylor, Shaun, Lauren, Kristen, Jennifer, Chelsea, Erin, Danielle, Hunter and Matthew, a sister, Donamay (Wally) Sifferman of Arkansas. Willis was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Shane Garceau.
Funeral services will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Koskey Funeral Home with Monsignor Peter Oberto officiating. Burial will be in the Negaunee Cemetery. The family will greet relatives and friends from 3:30 p.m. until the time of services at 4:30 p.m. at the funeral home on Wednesday.
