Michael J. Sager, age 56, of 609 Mesnard Street, Marquette, entered eternal life Saturday morning, September 10, 2011, at the Mather Nursing Center in Ishpeming.

Born June 26, 1955 in Laurium, a son of Joseph G. and Jean E. (Eckloff) Sager, Jr., Mike was raised in Copper City and Ahmeek, and was a 1974 graduate of the Calumet High School. On August 12, 1978, he married the former Peggy Stella in Mohawk and they have been Marquette residents since 1980. In April of 1985, Mike began a 25 year employment with Ameritech, retiring from AT&T in November of 2010 as a customer service specialist. Mike loved being with his family and friends, a good game of golf, staying at camp, and showing his prowess on the grill with his specialty "Spikie Chicken," He possessed a pleasant personality and always seemed to be happy. Even to the end, he maintained his marvelous sense of humor and enjoyed joking.

Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Peggy; his daughters, Donna (Chris) LaMere of Wisconsin and Angela Sager of Marquette; his three grandchildren, whom he adored, Abby and Bradley LaMere and Rena Sager; his sister, Kathy (Byron) Muljo of Mohawk; and his special niece, Julie (Scot) Dewar of Chassell. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, nicknamed Brad and Pat Sager.

A celebration of Mike's life will be held at the Richard Jopling Post 44 of the American Legion, Marquette, on Sunday, September 18, from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Bay Cliff Health Camp, P.O. Box 310, Big Bay, MI 49808.
