Eva Marie Lardenoit, 82, of Norway died Thursday, May 8, 2008, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.

She was born in Norway on Feb. 7, 1926, the daughter of the late Omer and Roseanna (LaPlante) LaPorte.

Eva married her high school sweetheart and husband of 61 years, and most recently her loving caregiver, Ernie Lardenoit on May 31, 1947, in St. Barbara Church in Vulcan.

She was a devoted wife and dedicated mother, caring for a special needs daughter until her death in 1975. Eva was also a caring and supportive daughter, sister and grandmother, always seeing the best in everyone. After her husband’s retirement in 1982, she enjoyed traveling with her husband and friends to Europe, Alaska, Hawaii, and Florida. She also attended many sporting events with her husband and good friends, including Packer games, the World Series, the Rose Bowl and every sport her grandchildren participated in. Eva and her husband were integral members of the Norway High School Class of 1944 and helped plan and host many reunion events.

She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church of Norway, where she and her husband served on the Parish Service Council for 10 years. She also was an active member of the Anderson Memorial Hospital Auxiliary where she looked forward to Tuesday afternoon work sessions for many years.

Eva is survived by her husband, Ernie; three daughters, Roseann (Greg) Poetz of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., Marianne (Fran) McCarthy of Hamilton Lakes, and Sheryl Ann (Don) LeBombard of Vulcan; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson, Joshua (Emily) Poetz and son, Ryan of Seneca, S.C., Matt McCarthy of Vulcan, Erin (Scott) Hoffman of Brussels, Wis., and Cody and Connor LeBombard of Vulcan; two sisters, Marjorie Pientkewic of Vulcan and Rose Marie (Roy) Muraro of Norway; sister-in-law, Carol (Wally) Kimichik of Norway; and several nieces and nephews.

She was proceeded in death by her daughter, JoAnne Lardenoit, granddaughter and husband, Kristi (Poetz) and Jim McRae; and a sister, LaVerne Arnoldi.

Eva’s positive attitude and cheerful nature will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Visitation will be Sunday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Miner-Ortman Funeral Home in Norway.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Church in Norway, with Fr. James Roetzer, presiding.

Interment will follow at the Norway Township Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Holy Spirit School or Bay Cliff Health Camp.
