He was born July 21, 1929, in Princeton, Michigan, a son of the late Edward C. and Edna (Terrian) Roberts. Edward was a 1947 graduate of Trenary High School.
He married the former Edna Pelkie in Gwinn on May 27, 1949, and she survives him.
Edward worked for many years as a truck driver for Claremont, making local deliveries and later, Gross Trucking.
He was a life member of the Elks, a member of the Teamsters Union and St. Anthony Catholic Church. Edward enjoyed motorcycling, camping, hunting, fishing, square dancing, owning horses, playing guitar and was an avid Detroit Lions and Tigers fan.
The greatest joy in Edward's life was his family. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Edna of Gwinn; children, Gary (Cindy) Roberts of Gwinn, Don (Bobby Brown) Roberts of Marquette, Ken (Tami) Roberts of Gwinn, Carol (Duke) Erickson of Gwinn and Marlene (Mike) Griffore of Green Bay, Wis.; grandchildren, Lori Ann (Eric) Jancsi, Danielle, Dustin (Sam) and Davin Roberts, Deanna (Brian) Demars, Dakota Roberts, Jaime Mullins, Christopher (Lacy) Erickson, Joseph and Rena Erickson, Arianna and Ben Griffore; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Tristan, Alysa, Andrew, Alivia, Noah, Lucy, Daena, Anthony, Jordan, Austin, Tristan, Sophie, Alli, Eddie and Jocelyn; brother, Paul (Dolly) Roberts of Escanaba; special nephews and niece, Bob and Jim Cayer and Sis Russell; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Ruth Sikorski, Betty Cayer and Mary Roberts.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 7, 2011, from 2 to 4:30 p.m. in the Canale-Gwinn Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 5 p.m. on Monday in St. Anthony Catholic Church with the Rev. John Boyle officiating. Interment will be in the Gwinn Cemetery.
