Deceased

Donald J. Tresedder passed away September 4, 2011 with his loving family at his side at the Eastwood Nursing Home.

Don was born December 11, 1927 to William and Margaret (Michelli) Tresedder in Negaunee, Michigan. He graduated from Negaunee High School in 1945 and entered the Navy in Pensacola, Florida where he was recognized for his leadership and was recommended to attend Annapolis. Instead he returned to Michigan to marry the love of his life, Carol Felt, and start a family.

He worked for CCI for 19 years at the Brownstone Shops, and later as head of the district maintenance crew. Upon leaving CCI he went into the investment field, working for Waddell and Reed, and then went on to open his own insurance Company, which he shared with his beloved son, Bill Tresedder.

He had an amazing analytical and mechanical mind. Don's motto was "bring me something I can't fix", and from his teens on excelled in woodworking, autobody work, working on everything from wrecked cars, model A's, and on to his 40 foot motor coach.

Don belonged to the Wawonowin Golf Club and continued his love of the game into his retirement years in Texas, his winter home. He was passionate about his Gwinn home on Crooked Lake, where he enjoyed many years with his family as well as hunting with his sons and friends. In 1997 he flew to California with his best friend, Dick Proteau, and together they drove back a burned out charter bus which he renovated into a show quality conversion motor coach, which was featured as the centerfold in the National Bus Conversion magazine. Don and Carol traveled many years all over the United States with their bus, it truly was the other "love of his life".

Don is survived by his committed wife, Carol June (Felt) who together celebrated 62 wonderful years of marriage, his daughter, Maureen (Dusty) Ferguson, his sons Edward (Jackie), Gary (Kathy), and Neal (Julie), his daughter-in-law Patricia Tresedder of Rothschild, WI. His grandchildren, Bradley (Gina) Tresedder, Donald W. Tresedder, Scott Tresedder, Megan Tresedder, Jody (Pierre) Bergougnan, Dana (Rebecca) Ferguson, Gina (Boone) Bell, Jennifer (Dean) Larsen, Katy Tresedder, Garrett (Mary) Tresedder, Kayleen Tresedder, Sarah Tresedder, Ashley Tresedder, and Hannah Tresedder, and twelve great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Robert Tresedder of Grand Blanc, Michigan and many nieces and nephews.

Don was preceded in death by his mom and dad, a sister Carole Nelson, his son, Bill Tresedder in 2010 and his granddaughter Dusti Marie Ferguson.

Don will always be remembered for his passion and joy for life, his positive attitude and thankfulness through everything. He kept up his vitality for life even through his years of health obstacles. He leaves his family honoring his courage and perseverance through everything. He was an inspiration on how to live life well, and for that we thank you Dad, you are the best. Our thanks to our mom, who during dad's four years at Eastwood, was at his side each and every day to make sure his day went as well as it could. Thanks to her diligence dad was able to enjoy many days out and attended many family functions.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 noon on Wednesday at St. Paul Catholic Church with Monsignor Peter Oberto officiating. Pallbearers will be Don's sons and grandsons. The family will greet relatives and friends from 10:30 AM until the time of services at noon at the church on Wednesday. Burial will be in the Negaunee Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Bay Cliff Health Camp in Big Bay, Michigan.
