Dave was born September 3, 1941 in Ishpeming to George R. "Murphy" and Lydia (Rovedo) Jandron, was a graduate of Negaunee St. Paul High School, Class of 1959, and was a lifelong Negaunee resident. He worked for the Negaunee I.G.A. for several years. He then worked for the Cleveland Cliffs Iron Company for 34 years, retiring as a warehouse clerk at the Tilden Mine in 1999. He was a member of the Negaunee Fire Department and the department running team for many years.
Dave was an active member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Negaunee. He was an Honorary Member of the Negaunee Fire Department. He played basketball in the Negaunee City League for many years and was a regular at the Negaunee Invitational Basketball Tournament, watching games and entertaining many guests and visiting players with the "bus crew."
He was an avid walker, bicyclist, and NASCAR fan, having attended many races. He was a great Negaunee Miner fan and always followed the sporting events of his granddaughter, nieces and nephews.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Judith K. (White) Jandron, his daughters: Lori (Steven) Waters and Stacy Jandron, his granddaughter, May Tonia Waters, all of Negaunee, 4 brothers: Robert (Dolores) Jandron, Negaunee, Richard Jandron, Marquette, Paul (Laura) Jandron, Negaunee, Raymond (Jean) Jandron, Negaunee, 2 sisters; Catherine Durocher and Sharon (Daniel) Landmark, both of Negaunee, a special aunt, Louise Rovedo of Kenosha, WI, a special nephew and family, David (Amy) Bond, Taylor and Tucker of Negaunee, numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother on Oct. 8, 1998, and his father on Feb. 9, 2001.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 4:00 PM on Friday, May 20, 2011 at St. Paul Catholic Church with Monsignor Peter Oberto officiating. Entombment will be in the Northland Chapel Gardens Mausoleum. Pallbearers will be: Peter Suardini, Joel Jarvi, Robert Rogers, Daryl Hoiem, Dennis Swenor, and Rich Uren. The family will greet relatives and friends from 2:30 PM until the time of services at 4:00 PM at the church on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the St. Paul Church Memorial Fund and the Lake Superior Hospice Association in Dave's memory.
