Do you know a teenager who is striving to achieve a healthy weight? Bay Cliff Health Camp, in partnership with local professionals, is offering a weekend program for U.P. high school students who are overweight.
“Weigh to Go Teens!” will take place at Bay Cliff Health Camp in Big Bay. (Dates to be announced.) This weekend program will be filled with helpful health tips to lead healthier lives, including important nutrition information on eating well and fun ways to be active and get exercise. On Sunday, there will also be an educational component for parents on ways they can help their child.
Program staff includes health professionals from Marquette General Hospital, Bell Hospital and Bay Cliff Health Camp. Summer camp counselors from Bay Cliff and students from Northern Michigan University are volunteering to be camp counselors.
Bay Cliff Health Camp, supporting organizations and local volunteers are subsidizing much of the cost for this important program. A modest fee per teen will include the full program, comfortable overnight accommodations, healthy home-cooked meals and more. Please note: If cost is a barrier to attend, please let Bay Cliff know on your registration form.
In the spirit of working together for the health of U.P. kids, please spread the word to parents of teens who could benefit from this important program. Please encourage them to contact Bay Cliff so we can let them know when we will be having the next program.
