The 10th annual Winter Blast was definitely a blast!  The weather made for a wonderful weekend with sunny days & blue skies. We were even dazzled by the sunrise this year. What made it best of all, though, was everyone at camp again.  With 16 campers and 34 staff, the Big House was filled with laughter.  It was great to welcome first-timers Judy and Terry.  They were joined by 14 others who enjoy coming back for winter camp. For the men, that included Aaron, Leland, Gunny, Trevor, Duane, and Richard.  The women returners were Mary Lynn, Nikki, Caryn, Jeannette, Shannon, Ashley, Renee and Mary S.  Along with the Bay Cliff staff, it was a grand group!

Even though the weekend was a day shorter this year, it was jam-packed with activity and fun. The weather was very cooperative with our ice fishing adventure.  The tradition of a friendly challenge between the men and the women continued as to who would catch the biggest fish. Two campers landed keepers. Caryn pulled in a 241/2"northern pike in the morning session.  She couldn’t keep bragging rights for very long though, as Aaron hauled in 27-incher in the afternoon. Keven still holds the “biggest fish” record with a whopping 36 inch-11lb northern pike in 2008, but Duane keeps trying!

When we weren’t outside, we had the great pleasure of staying warm inside the Big House with fireside chats, card games, puzzles, making friendship bracelets, forming Sculpey clay into fashionable jewelry, and pressing out name badge buttons by the dozen.  We bundled up to head outside as the battle of the sexes continued in the BC Curling Tournament.  The men won by a point!  The women, however, handed the men defeat in the BC Family Feud trivia contest. Friendly competition just adds to the warmth of being with good friends, enjoying delicious food, and having great fun. It was indeed a blast!  We will do s’more next year!
