Patricia Claire Consolmagno (nee Duffy) died in Venice, Florida on Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017.
Born on Oct. 12, 1921, in Plattsburgh, New York, Patricia graduated from Plattsburgh State Teacher’s College in 1942 and taught High school in Scotia, New York during the war.
At that time she also courted her future husband, Joseph, while he was a prisoner of war in Germany; they celebrated their 72nd anniversary in June. After the war they moved to the Detroit area where they raised a family of three, before retiring to Englewood in 1979. They maintained their home in Englewood until Hurricane Irma hit in September; soon after, she was taken to the hospital for a series of operations, but never fully recovered.
Patricia was an active member of St. Raphael’s Catholic Church, Englewood, and the local chapter of the National Council of Catholic Women. Among other offices with the NCCW, she served as president of the Florida Chapter of the NCCW.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph; three children, Susan (Cianflone), Edwin, and Guy; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; her sister, Jean Trombly of Rochester, New York; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church on February 20 at 10 a.m.
